Gerry Johansson. Born in 1945. Lives in Höganäs, Sweden.

Lived for one year with relatives in Essex Fells, New Jersey
and became a member of the Village Camera Club, New York, 1962 - 63
Educated as graphic designer at School of Design and Crafts, Gothenburg. Graduated in 1969.

Worked as graphic designer for photography magazine Populär Fotografi,1970-71.
Together with colleagues Yngve Neglin, Jan Olsheden and Werner Noll he founded
publishing company
Fyra Förläggare AB, (Four Publishers), in 1972.
Published the photography magazines Aktuell Fotografi, Fotografiskt Album
and a series of photographic books presenting work by Swedish documentary and nature photographers.
Left Fyra Förläggare AB in 1985 to work as an independent photographer.

First solo show at Fotografiska Museet i Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Sweden in 1982.
Worked on rephotographing the work of Swedish photographer C.G. Rosenberg in the summers of 1983-1985.
Participated in the pilot study for the Swedish documentary project EKODOK 90.
Photographed for the project 1990 – 91.

Photographed for Japan Today project in Ehime Prefecture on Shikoku island 1999.
Photographed in Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica, for the culture program of the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat.
Received a grant from the Swedish Institute to photograph in Tokyo in the winter of 2004.

Was 2005 awarded the K W Gullers Grant by the Nordiska Museet, Stockholm.
Was in 2011 awarded Region Skånes Kulturpris and 2012 the Swedish Arts Grants Committe’s award.
Was awarded the Lars Tunbjörk prize in 2019.
He was awarded the Prince Eugene medal in 2024.
